Choosing the best lone worker app is a safety decision, not just a software purchase. This guide compares four established providers: Beepiz, Peoplesafe, OK Alone and SoloProtect. It looks at the criteria that matter when you’re responsible for protecting isolated employees: alert reliability, indoor location, monitoring model, certification, deployment speed and cost.
All four providers in this guide can turn a standard smartphone into a lone worker alarm, with a panic button, location tracking and automatic alerts. The differences that affect worker safety are in the details:

Key features:
Limitations to consider:
• Protection depends on the worker’s smartphone. Battery level and device condition matter, so charging routines should be part of your lone worker policy.
• Indoor location and potential incident alerts require the Premium plan, and indoor positioning needs beacons or Wi-Fi hotspots to be set up on each site.
Best for: organisations that manage alerts with their own supervisors, need indoor location on large sites, and want a clear per-licence budget.
Location combines GPS and Wi-Fi with what3words, which Peoplesafe says pinpoints staff to within 5m², including in built-up areas. The app pairs with Apple Watch, and Peoplesafe also offers dedicated devices (ID badge alarms, satellite alarms, an ATEX-approved device) and an eSIM option for low-signal areas. Pricing is quote-only and there is no free tier. Peoplesafe is part of the Send for Help Group and also owns OK Alone.
Best for: UK organisations that want a BS 8484-accredited, fully managed ARC service and a wide range of devices.
Its four plans range from monitoring by your own in-house team to a 24/7 Safety Monitoring Center powered by AvantGuard (TMA Five Diamond accredited), up to an enterprise tier with API integration, satellite devices and enhanced GPS. Prices are on quote, but a free trial is available with no credit card. Its website is geared towards North America and does not mention BS 8484, which UK buyers should check.
Best for: check-in-based teams that want to choose between in-house and outsourced monitoring, particularly in North America.
The app includes the Red Alert panic button, Man Down detection, Ready2Talk live monitored calls, time-stamped voice check-ins, a monitoring timer and discreet activation without unlocking the phone, with an optional Bluetooth button. Alerts are handled by SoloProtect’s EN 50518-certified 24/7 ARC. Pricing is on quote.
Best for: organisations that want to combine a smartphone app and discreet wearable devices under one accredited ARC.
Start from your risk assessment, not from the feature list:
Whatever you choose, test it with real workers in real conditions before rolling it out. That includes indoor sites, low-signal areas and the alert escalation process.
All four providers can turn a smartphone into a lone worker alarm, so having an app is no longer the differentiator. What matters in practice is indoor precision, who responds to an alert and with what accreditation, and whether you know what you’ll pay before you talk to sales.
Among the providers compared here, Beepiz is the only one that combines published pricing, a free version and dedicated indoor positioning, with seven alert types including a silent aggression alert. If you manage alerts in-house and those criteria matter to you, it’s worth putting on your 2026 shortlist. If you need a BS 8484-accredited ARC and a range of dedicated devices, Peoplesafe and SoloProtect are strong alternatives, and OK Alone is a good fit for check-in-based teams.
